We’re in the fall season right now, and I’m so excited because the Fall season is my favorite season of them all.
It’s unclear whether the warm colors attract me to the Fall season or if it’s the change in the season.
I like to wear layers of clothing, and the fall season will entice me to create stylish fall wardrobes.
I’m unsure what it is, but I’m excited about today’s project.
Before I jump into it, I had sewing plans from the summer that I couldn’t finish due to unexpected events, and these unfinished projects will be part of my fall plans.
I’m thrilled to share my upcoming projects with you, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Keep this in mind: I won’t go into full detail about the fabric. If you’re interested, I will link where I got it, and you can check them out.
Fall Fabric Haul
I’m so excited to share my Fall Fabrics with you, but first, I want to start with my sheet sets.
CHARISMA SHEET SET
This first sheet set is made of polyester fabric. It’s so soft, lovely, cool, and irresistible. Truly, I had to have it; I love the flowers so much!
I can’t help but love this fabric, and I’m so excited to make skirts and tops with it. I hope you can feel my enthusiasm!
My go-to fabric is usually cotton, linen, and bamboo cotton. Please don’t judge me for using polyester.
This sheet set is called *Charisma; I picked it up on AMAZON. After cutting the fitted and flat sheets into fabric yards I ended up with 10 yards of it.
I purchased the sheets for $48. After cutting them into yards of fabric for my sewing plans, the cost was $4.80 a yard.
The savings blew my mind. It’s incredibly satisfying to know that this worked, considering I bought all of these sheets new. But I’m okay with that. I can live with myself this time.
GRASSHOPPER GREEN LINEN
Next is this beautiful fabric, carried over from my summer fabric haul. I’ll link you to the details below. This fabric is called grasshopper green linen, and I got this from Fabrics-store.com.
Laura Ashley Sheet Set
Next, I picked up another sheet set. This one is twin-size and 100% cotton. This *pretty floral sheet set was another one of my absolute favorites that I couldn’t let go of.
I absolutely love it! It has all of my Sewpapilla brand colors, which makes me feel happy. I ended up getting 4 1/2 yards of fabric out of a twin floral cotton fabric.
Modern Threads Sheet Set
This next fabric may be different from the fall colors or anything you would expect for Fall. The flowers are so romantic and girlie. I couldn’t give it up; I loved it so much. I had *these sheets on my shopping cart wish list for about six months, and I forgot about them.
So, I picked it up before I lost out on it.
I got this in a *king-size sheet set and got 10 yards of fabric. Once I tallied up the cost, It came out to $2.55 a yard! I was incredibly happy about this purchase as well.
Pink and Yellow Blossums Sheet Set
Here’s *another sheet set that I got from Amazon. I love this floral Design. It’s subtle and romantic, and I got ten yards out of this fabric.
Tan Linen
This fabric here was left over from my summer fabric haul. I was really disappointed I couldn’t do the sewing project I wanted. Things happened, so I moved my summer project to my fall project.
I will use this fabric this Fall, and I can’t wait!
Mist Gold + Rust Linen
Here is another fabric meant for the summer. It’s my favorite color of mustard. It’s called mist gold linen. I use this every season, and you will find this in almost every single fabric haul that I’ll share on the Sewpapilla Blog.
In addition, my other favorite color is rust or terracotta. This terracotta linen and this mist gold linen go together so nicely.
Dark Gray Denim
This fabric is *dark gray denim or dark blue, depending on how the light hits it. I got it from Amazon. It was part of the summer fabric haul.
Sheer Dot Fabric
Yesterday, I was digging around in my closet and found a dress I hadn’t worn in years. This fabric would be perfect for a top I have in mind, and I will share it with you shortly.
You’ll see it here in a bit down below. But I have two types: a lighter ivory and a beige tan. I will play with both pieces and decide if I have enough fabric.
I’m excited to see if this idea will work since it was an unplanned event.
DRESS SEWING PLANS
Now, on to the dress sewing plans.
I sewed this lovely dress using the Simplicity 8341 sewing pattern. It’s a 1969 vintage pattern that I used not too long ago.
I shared a video about making this dress. You can watch it on my YouTube Channel here.
This dress is Style 2 from the sewing pattern. I made it in black linen.
For the Fall, I will sew the second dress in Style 3.
The fabrics that I may be using with this next project are just above.
In addition, I want to sew it in another *linen fabric or painter’s *drop cloth. I will know which once I get to that point. I absolutely love this dress. It was so fun to wear, and I definitely felt like I was in an episode of Mad Men wearing it.
I’m also excited to try another vintage sewing pattern: Simplicity 7721, from 1968. I love the button-down buttons, the short neck collar, and the front pockets.
This sewing pattern is from Tiana’s Closet. It’s a free sewing pattern called the Fatima Ruffle Neck Dress.
I like this simple dress because it’s a dainty button-up dress. It has cute puffy sleeves, a ruffled neck, and a slim string neck tie. I can see myself wearing this in the summer, or I can dress it up and add more layers in the Fall.
The fabric I will use for this dress is between three fabrics.
TOPS SEWING PLANS
Now, onto the fall tops.
This top is going to be my favorite challenge this Fall. It would be fantastic if I could incorporate these two tops into one design!
I love the puffy sleeves, the detail on the Cuffs, and the highly oversized bow in the center front.
I love this, and I can’t wait to DIY this.
I’m going to create a sewing pattern on my body form and see what I come up with.
I will play around with the two pieces of sheer fabric I found in my closet to create an incredible design. I’m going to choose between these three fabrics.
Again, from Tiana’s closet, I have this free sewing pattern called the Isla puffy sleeve top. I love the long front opening with the ties.
And I love the front and back gather on this top, along with the 3/4-length puffy sleeves.
These types of tops are my go-to for flowiness and comfort.
I made a top similar to this without the front opening. I’ll show you down below in my retro flower top.
The fabric choices for this top are these two fabrics. Here’s the top, which is similar to the Elsa Top without the open front.
I know I’m crushing on Tiana’s closet sewing patterns. So, again, this is another free pattern from Tiana’s closet called the Elaine Tie-Sleeve Top.
I love the oversized sleeves that tie at the elbows and its simplicity. This shirt will be perfect for work, and I love that I can tuck it into a pair of jeans, shorts, or a skirt.
I’m choosing between these two fabrics.
I’ve seen this sewing pattern flowing around quite a bit. I wanted to give it a try myself. It’s a free sewing pattern from fabrics-store dot com website.
It’s the Agustina Boxy Top. I like the boxy, comfy fit. It’s straightforward. It would be super comfortable to wear to work.
I’ve decided to make several of them with multiple fabrics. I’m going to choose between these three fabrics.
Fall Sewing PLANS: Bottom PATTERNS
Up next is the bottoms.
This next inspiration came from Mood Fabrics. They have this free sewing pattern called The Primrose Pants. I love the semi-boxy fit. It’s an essential pair of pants with an elasticated ruffled waist, a cuffed ankle, and a tie belt.
They look so comfortable, and I love how perfect they will wear to work. I will make them with the denim fabric.
I still need to finish some summer projects, which will carry over into my fall sewing plans. You can watch the video for my summer sewing plans and fabrics here.
It will include all the links in the video description. If I have time to sew them in the Fall, I’ll share them with you.
I want to share some of the summer projects I will attempt to finish.
I’m going to keep this very brief. I will not go into full detail about the fabrics or the sewing patterns. You can always watch the video if you want to know more.
SUMMER PLANS TO FALL
This one is the Aloha skirt. The unique waistline and the open curves of the front of the skirt are the things I love most about this skirt. To DIY this sewing pattern, I’ll use my body form.
I am definitely going to make this cargo skirt with oversized pockets. I need it in my wardrobe!
The free unfettered sewing pattern is a good match to make this. So, we’ll have to see how well it turns out. I’m excited about getting started.
Next up is the Heart’s Desire Top. It’s a romantic ruffled shrug top.
The sewing pattern that I’m going to attempt to hack to make this is the Butterick B 5925. I’m going to choose between two different fabrics.
Here are other tops I may get to, along with the fabrics I will use to sew them up.
I’m going to go ahead and stop right here.
I have plenty of sewing plans created for the fall season. I may only get to some of them, but I will do my best.
We hope you enjoyed the sewing plans and are inspired to create your fall wardrobe.
